Meytal Cohen is a hard hitting versatile drummer based in the Los Angels area. Meytal was born and raised in Ramat Gan, Israel and is the youngest in a large family of seven. She started playing drums at the age of 18, right about the same time that she was drafted into the Israeli Defense Forces for two years. After she was released from duty, Meytal enrolled at the Los Angeles Music Academy and relocated to LA to pursue her drumming career. She was professionally trained in drums and percussion by world-class musicians, Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Michael Shapiro, Aaron Zerfaty, Randy Cook and Joey Heredia. Her fluency in the genres of Rock, Funk, Jazz, and Afro-Cuban contribute to her unique style.
Meytal performed a 21-city tour in Australia with the former metal/classical fusion band "Metaphor." In addition to performing in the country's most prestigious arts centers and theaters, they also performed live on several national television programs including "The Kerrianne Kennerly Show" and were featured in the Entertainment Edition of the nationwide newspaper "The Daily Telegraph." The band broke up shortly after and Meytal continued on as a freelance drummer.
Her latest performances in the United States, as well as recent nationwide tours, have included a Puerto Rican tour with the all girl Led Zeppelin cover band "Moby Chick" followed by a Mexican tour with "Dali". Meytal preformed live on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live Show" with the award winning band "Chromeo", as well as at the "Professional Golf Association" in South Carolina, where she was featured on national television. She has also recorded a track featured in the major motion picture and soundtrack of "The Heartbreak Kid" starring Ben Stiller. Meytal is currently working on her solo project and is gaining worldwide exposure on the net.
